Young Manna Dey was brought to Bombay by his uncle K.C.Dey, the legendary
blind singer. This was Manna Dey's first playback song in movies. In his
own words
" Every one said that I had sung both versions very well. I waited eagerly
to see the movie, and was very disappointed to see that on the screen it
was being sung by an old beggar". The song remains a landmark in Indian
