A moving paean to India and to the great patriot S.C. Bose. Just because he
received marginal help from Hitler and support from Japan's General Hideki
Tojo, British propagandists tried to blacken his name as a fascist. If one
reads about his life and creed, he was anything but a fascist. He was an
erudite and thoughtful person, not an ideological bigot. He did try to use
all means to help liberate India, and sacrificed his life in the process.

Back in India decades ago, once I had the pleasure of briefly meeting
General Shah Nawaz Khan at Meerut College. He was an associate of S.C. Bose
in the Indian National Army. Japanese conquerers of Singapore helped Bose
create the I.N.A. out of Indian members of the British forces who had
surrendered to Japan.
