Plain and unpretentious lyrics, yet carrying an intense saddening affect! And then Husnalal-Bhagatram's music of fine quality and Lata Ji's mesmerizing voice penetrate deep into the soul!!
Thanks kalakar!

Husanlal Baghatram worked hard to groom Lata Mangeshker. In a duet song of film Balam (1949) music by HL BR (Lata & Suriya) O pardesi musafir kise karta hay ishare, Suriya very much surprised that Lata is par excellence than her and she noticed that composer is much devoted to Lata though Suriya was also favourite singer of HL BR. I quote two other songs of Shagun one is Dam thodte hain arman (Rafi) and other Daman pakad ke ro diye (Lata)

In Bollywood many mediocre Music Directors achieved popularity whereas composers
of the calibre of Husn Lal & Bhagat Ram faded away so early. The most painfull part of
their career is that at one time they were left with no other choice except to accept the
position of instrumentalists under the supervision of junior Music Directors.

Heart touching composition by Husnlal & Bhagatram, super rendition by Lata.
I repeat my comments made sometime last year.
Lata is Lata ... no other female singer has achieved the class of melody
queen.
