I love this song but I absolutely hate the way they switch between fast and slow tempos. It is a sad song and wish it remained so in one tempo. Otherwise, what a brilliant tune it is.

This is IMO the best SD-Lata solo from the 70's.one of the very rare songs in HFM composed in Raga Patdeep.SD was so brilliant.the beautiful east-west fusion shows his class and amazing orchestration skills.awesome melody and rendition.

Agree with all. I remember I had given my comments on this song last year. In between this video was removed for some time for reasons best known to them. Anyway all time great composition in Raag Patdeep. a real immortal song.

S.D. Burman yet another great MD of that golden era has given us so many melodies based on Classical Ragas e.g. Patadeep in this song, Pilu in Kali Ghata chhaye, Hum Tumhare hai jara in Jaijaivanti, Puchho na kaise in Ahir Bhairav and . so many others. No praise can be too high for him and other MDs of that era whose greatest service was to take classical music to common man for easy digesting
