Her performance is simply astonishing, and her portrayal of one of Hindi cinema's most iconic film characters - Chandramukhi of "Devdas" - par excellence!! When juxtaposed with the original Chandramukhi - whether one chooses the classic first-time depiction of 1928 or that of Vyjayanthimala - not only does she hold her own, but she also incorporates a special touch to a performance that is already amazing in itself. When Hema enters the stage, all eyes are locked on her!! Such a powerful artist!

What makes THIS specific act such a delight is its comedic aspect: as Randhir Kapoor enters the scene in a drunken state (literally) when he was solely supposed to put on an act par script/story. The minute Hema finds out, she puts her thinking caps on, and, just as the professional that she is, cooks up a story and goes by the plan - all in an attempt not to let the cat out of the bag:) It's also very hilarious how she approaches him during certain scenes and tries to unveil the truth:)

Randhir is simply pure brilliance in here - having something in common with her heroine:) Not only does he excel in this song with his embodiment of Devdas, but he does an absolutely phenomenal job all throughout the film as the con artist. The Kapoor family - being one of the top-notch filmy families - has always produced talented individuals; from Prithviraj Kapoor to Rishiji, they're have all been simply amazing in their respective rights. Hema and Randhir make a great on-screen couple here!!

In this film, also, Hema was credited as a playback singer (her voice could be heard through this song itself). With the legendary and iconic Kishore Kumar, she pulled her own:) Great job, Hemaji!!!!
