Mani Ratnam+Illaya Raja produced Thalapathi movie in 1991. Mani Ratnam
wanted to repeat same with A R Rahman in 1992. They called Kumar Sanu and
Alka Yagnik to sing songs in Chennai studio but they refused. Unfortunately
(fortunate later) Rahman went with south singers (who are legends today).
And we all know what Roja music has done to hindi music industry. Thank God
Mani Ratnam did not try to repeat Thalapthi effect with Roja. We now have
Rahman and he has changed hindi music industry single handedly.
