The unusual thing about this song is that Ram Ganguly used the church organ in the song! The deep bass of the organ is a perfect counter-point to Talat's delicate vocals. But it requires a crisp clean audio to really appreciate the combination of the organ and Talat. Thanks.

The songs of Surendraji and Talat sahib ( Teri Yadka deepak...)should not
be compared as both have different styles of singing. Surendraji follows
Saigal school while Talatji has his own style. Both are good

@Mrprabhakar1944 Yes sir what you have observed is absolutly right, both
have sung in their own style and has done an excellent job.

Great singer Sri Surendranathji did not sing after Gawaiah in 1954. He sang
along with Mannadey in Pati Patni in 1964. That was the last time he sang
for films. Film music degenerated to such an extent that Surendraji and
Talat sahib called it a day. Surendraji concentrated on Business . He did
character roles for long time. But the music lovers are at loss as he
stopped singing. In fact after Baiju Bawara Surendraji slowly withdrew from
the thankless filmi duniya.

Surendraji in fact had a sour experience with Naushad sahib the Md of Baiju
Bawara film. Surendraji portraying role of Tansen had to accept a play back
in the film. He did not know whether to feel amused or feel sorry. The film
was Baiju oriented. I saw interview of Surendraji way back in 1984 on TV
and he narrated his experiences for the film. Surendra was told that his
voice was heavy for the role and he was not a classical singer. He started
his withdrawl.

In the movie Gharbar of 1953 too Surendraji had one song with Ashaji and in
Gawaiah although he sang three best songs, he was a given a play back by
Talat for one song. I think this was the last straw and Surendraji decided
that he must call it a day and later he did not sing in films. He started a
business. and he flourished. However we are at loss. Saigal tradition died
with his withdrawl from singing in films.
