Please tell me, if you can, on whom it is played. I am viewing the video
for the first time. I did hear it recently on radio and told family member
that it must be Umadevi - then, Vividh Bharati station confirmed. I have
got special liking for this song in particular and other songs in general,
rendered by Umadevi. It goes to the credit of Naushad that he continued to
encourage her. An excellent and memorable presentation. Thank you.

i hv listened this song on radio many a time & its unbelievable that naushad composed this xclent song during 40s with marvellous orchestration rhythm & xclent use of instruments i.e. piano, flute, accordian, violins etc. this is the best song sung y tuntun but her afsana likh rahi hoon bcame more popular. later she concentrated more on comedy. the sweet piece of orchestra frm start of the song is missing & video quality is a bit poor. njoyed the melody frm ur valuable treasure. thanx.

It is always my favourite song. Umadevi had capabilities of a good singer, but circumstances prevalent did not permit full exploitation of her talents. Thanks to advice fromNaushad she concentrated on acting and achieved considerably. Thanks for making available this old gem.

- Frankly, I am not sure whether anyone has posted the Sri Lankan version. I will ask around and let you know but very unlikely.
The problem in Sri Lankan cinema is [among so many!] that unlike in India, we do not have a proper film archives.
