Lyrics of Ambar Ki Ek Paak Suraahi - अंबर की एक पाक सुराही
ambar ki ek paak surahi
baadal ka ek jaam utha kar
ambar ki ek paak surahi
baadal ka ek jaam utha kar
ghunt chandni pee hai humne
baat kufr ki ki hai humne
ambar ki ek paak surahi
baadal ka ek jaam utha kar
kaise iska karz chukaye
maang ke apni maut ke hath
kaise iska karz chukaye
maang ke apni maut ke hath
amar ki suni si hai humne
baat kufr ki ki hai humne
ambar ki ek paak surahi
baadal ka ek jaam utha kar
apna isme kuch bhi nahi hai
apna isme kuch bhi nahi hai
kuch bhi nahi hai
do dil jalte
do dil jalte uski amanat
usko nahi to di hai humne
baat kufr ki ki hai humne
ambar ki ek paak surahi
baadal ka ek jaam utha kar
ambar ki ek paak surahi
baadal ka ek jaam utha kar
baadal ka ek jaam utha kar
ambar ki ek paak surahi
baadal ka ek jaam utha kar
ghunt chandni pee hai humne
baat kufr ki ki hai humne
ambar ki ek paak surahi

Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Ambar Ki Ek Paak Suraahi - अंबर की एक पाक सुराही
From Heaven's sacred, crystal chalice poured,
A cloud's full cup, a draught we have adored.
We drank the moonlight, silver, pure, and bright,
And spoke the blasphemy against the light.
From Heaven's sacred, crystal chalice poured,
A cloud's full cup, a draught we have adored.
How shall we pay this debt, this burning need?
By begging death, to plant a final seed.
How shall we pay this debt, this burning need?
By begging death, to plant a final seed.
Of immortality, an empty vow we've made,
And spoke the blasphemy, unafraid.
From Heaven's sacred, crystal chalice poured,
A cloud's full cup, a draught we have adored.
Nothing of our own remains, we see,
Nothing of our own, eternally.
Two hearts ablaze, a sacred trust we hold,
Two hearts ablaze, a story to be told.
To Him, we gave what was not ours to give,
And spoke the blasphemy, how could we live?
From Heaven's sacred, crystal chalice poured,
A cloud's full cup, a draught we have adored.
From Heaven's sacred, crystal chalice poured,
A cloud's full cup, a draught we have adored.

Beautiful poetry (by Amrita Preetam), a lovely tune (by Ustad Vilayat Khan)
and Asha Bhonsle's enchanting voice and singing skills -- the combination
of these three maestros created a song of everlasting beauty. Love it!
Thanks for posting it.

Dear Bobby, Thanks a million for this wonderful song of Ashaji. Amrita
Preetam's lyrics is fantastic but can you translate it for me in detail
please ? Really Ashatai is the pak surahi. No words to describe her voice
and the lyrics and without forgetting ..the Ustad Viklayat Khanm who played
Sitar with Shankar Jaikishan for years.
