insan ki sabse badi taksir dekhlo
is atmi bala ka hai pahla shikar hum
range bahar the kabhi ab hai gubar hum
insaa ke is gunah se aakash jhuk gaya
tha waqt jis jagah pe bas wahi pe ruk gaya

ye hath kate paw kate jhulte dhanche
in dancho me hum jaise hi nsan dhale the
maao ki muskurati god khali ho gayi
poonam ki rat bhi suna hai kali ho gayi
kahti hai hiroshima ki bashti pukar ke
gujro na tum mai gujri hu jis rahgujar se

Behold the face of Hiroshima, shattered, vast,
Behold the greatest sin of humankind amassed.
The first to fall before that atomic blight,
Once painted spring, now dust in endless night.
From this, man's crime, the heavens bowed their head,
And time itself, in that one place, lay dead.

These severed hands, these feet where life once trod,
These open frames, where once we walked with God.
The mothers' smiles, their cradles now are bare,
The full moon's light, they say, no longer there.
Hiroshima's heart, a mournful cry it sends,
"Pass not this path, where all my journey ends."
