Suman is equal to Lata in the low and medium notes and better than Lata in
the high notes. She has shown those high notes in two duets with Rafi.
Music composers of her era were too mediocre to write music with high notes
and did not utilize Suman's great qualities. They gave her only 740 songs
instead of ten thousand. Indian music would have been even better if Suman
had sung many of the songs that Lata sang, provided high notes were added
to those songs.

Songgaan: thanks for your opinion. U give lata too much credit. She is not
known for very high notes. 99 percent of her songs were low to medium
notes. Suman, in her brief career sang higher notes, specially in a couple
of duets with rafi. Lata herself says that music directors composed
different music for me and rafi. Suman matched rafi in the high notes,
whereas lata stayed below rafi in her high notes. Do listen to the lata
rafi duets and Suman rafi duets and u may notice the difference.
