Lyrics of Ek Pardesi Door Se Aaya - एक परदेसी दूर से आया
ek pardesi door se aya
ladki par hak apana jataya
ghar waalo ne hamne bhar di
pardesi ki marji kar di

pyaar ke waade huye na pure
rah gaye sare khwab adhure
chhod ke sathi aur ham saye
chal di ladki desh paraye

do baaho ki haar ne roka
waado ki diwar ne roka
ghayal dil ka pyaar pukara
aanchal ka har taar pukara

par ladki kuchh muh se na boli
pathar ban kargair ki holi
ab gum sum hairaan si hain wo
mujhse bhi anjaan si hain wo

jab bhi dekho chup rahti hain
kahti hain to ye kahti hain
kal ki baat na koi jaane
kahte hain ye sabhi siyane
ye mat socho kal kya hoga
jo bhi hoga achcha hoga
ye mat socho kal kya hoga
jo bhi hoga achcha hoga
ye mat socho kal kya hoga
jo bhi hoga achcha hoga
lyrics of song Ek Pardesi Door Se Aaya
Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Ek Pardesi Door Se Aaya - एक परदेसी दूर से आया
A stranger arrived from afar,
Claimed a right upon the star.
Her family, they gave consent,
To the stranger, their will they lent.

Promises of love, unkept,
Dreams unfinished, softly wept.
Leaving friends and shadows behind,
She walked to a foreign kind.

No, the embrace couldn't restrain,
Nor the walls of vows remain.
The wounded heart's love did call,
Each thread of her veil did fall.

But the girl, she spoke no word,
Turned to stone, for another heard.
Silent now, bewildered and lost,
Unfamiliar, counting the cost.

Whenever seen, she's in a hush,
If she speaks, it's a gentle blush,
"Tomorrow's fate, none can know,"
Wise elders' words softly flow.
"Don't dwell on what tomorrow will be,
Whatever unfolds, it shall agree."
"Don't dwell on what tomorrow will be,
Whatever unfolds, it shall agree."
"Don't dwell on what tomorrow will be,
Whatever unfolds, it shall agree."

Every such poem by Sahir, though essentially written as a soliloquy for
the performer, quickly becomes a colloquy for truly engaged listeners; it
ramifies as a source of stimulating discussion on our social mores and
values. A moving yet sweet rendition by AB again. What sadness we sometimes
drink from cups of joy, as Japanese poet Yone Noguchi( with whom R.N.
Tagore had a long, running correspondence) once remarked! Thanks, Ajay.
