Lyrics of Jhumka Gira Re, Bareli Ke Bazaar Me - झुमका गिरा रे, बरेली के बज़ार में
jhumka giraa re haay
jhumka giraa re bareli ke bazaar me
jhumka giraa re bareli ke bazaar me
jhumka giraa jhumka giraa jhumka giraa
haay haay haay jhumka giraa re bareli ke bazaar me

saiyaan aaye nain jhukaaye ghar me chori chori
bole jhumka mai pahnaa dun, aajaa baanki chhori
mai boli naa naa naa baba, naa kar joraa-jori

haay kalaiyaa naahi chhodi, phir kyaa huaa
phir? phir jhumka giraa re ham dono ki takraar me
jhumka giraa re bareli ke bazaar me
jhumka giraa re
ghar ki chhat pe mai khadi, gali me dilbar jaani
ghar ki chhat pe mai khadi, gali me dilbar jaani
hanske bole niche aa, ab niche aa diwaani
yaa anguthi fenk apni yaa chhllaa de nishaani
ghar ki chhat pe khadi-khadi mai hui sharam se paani
haay hui sharam se paani, phir kyaa huaa
daiyaa! phir jhumka giraa re ham dono ke is pyaar me
jhumka giraa re bareli ke bazaar me
jhumka giraa re
bagiyaa me balmaa ne meri lat ulajhi suljhaai
bagiyaa me balmaa ne meri lat ulajhi suljhaai
thaamke aanchal bole, gori tu mere man bhaai
aankh jhukaake kuchh naa boli
kuchh naa boli haay, haay, haay
aankh jhukaake kuchh naa boli, dhire se muskaai
saiyaan ne jab chhedaa mujhko, ho gai haathaapaayi
haay ho gai haathaapaayi
are, phir kyaa huaa
phir jhumka giraa re, mai kyaa bolun bekaar me
jhumka giraa re bareli ke bazaar me

Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Jhumka Gira Re, Bareli Ke Bazaar Me - झुमका गिरा रे, बरेली के बज़ार में
The earring fell, alas!
The earring fell in Bareilly's bazaar.
The earring fell, alas, in Bareilly's bazaar.
The earring fell, fell, fell!
Alas, alas, alas! The earring fell in Bareilly's bazaar.
The earring fell.
My love arrived, eyes downcast, came stealthily home,
My love arrived, eyes downcast, came stealthily home.
He said, "Let me adorn you with this, come, my fair one."
I replied, "No, no, no, father, do not force this."
I struggled, yet my love did not release my wrist.
Alas, my wrist he wouldn't release, and then?
Then the earring fell, in the heat of our quarrel.
The earring fell in Bareilly's bazaar.
The earring fell.
I stood upon the roof, my beloved in the lane below.
I stood upon the roof, my beloved in the lane below.
He laughed and said, "Come down, come down, my mad one."
"Throw down your ring, or give me some token."
Standing on the roof, I was drenched in shame.
Alas, I was drenched in shame, and then?
Oh dear! Then the earring fell, in the bloom of our love.
The earring fell in Bareilly's bazaar.
The earring fell.
In the garden, my love untangled my tangled locks.
In the garden, my love untangled my tangled locks.
Holding my veil, he said, "Beloved, you are my heart's desire."
Lowering my eyes, I said nothing,
Said nothing, alas, alas, alas!
Lowering my eyes, I said nothing, and softly smiled.
When my love teased me, a playful fight began.
Alas, a playful fight began.
Oh, and then?
Then the earring fell, what can I say, it's all in vain.
The earring fell in Bareilly's bazaar.
The earring fell.
The earring fell in Bareilly's bazaar.
The earring fell, alas, in Bareilly's bazaar.
The earring fell, fell, fell!

What did he say wrong? He's saying that nowadays Bollywood is very western,
and its not sticking to Indian traditions/clothing, etc. He's saying that
this is how Indian women should dress (in their traditional clothes) like
in this video. How is this wrong? I miss movies like this. Nowdays
Bollywood movies are all English/Western, wearing English clothes.

A very lively and enjoyable performance by Sadhna. There is an equally
lovely performance by Vijayantimala in an old film Yasmin:'hans hans key
hasino pe nazar char kiyey ja- jo be karey piyar osey piyar kiyey ja' . It
is fun to watch both one after the other. Very entertaining.

This dance and song is only surpassed by one in Yaasmin by Vijayantimala:
hans hans ke hasino sey nazar char kiye ja. Both dances are very lively and
exciting. Great music.

One of my top three favorite Sadhana songs, from one of her evergreen hits, "Mera Saaya". Love this song and the gypsy/carnival vibe of the video. Very beautifully made, with Sadhana looking ever-so-beautiful. Her entire outfit has that "fiery" look. The incorporation of the shiny jewelry gives the final touch that timeless look.
Superb rendition of the song by Lata, coupled with the splendid composition of Madan Mohan make this song an all-time hit!
Nice upload, ciqyou! Thanks!
