Lyrics of Kanhaiya O Kanhaiya - कन्हैया ओ कन्हैया
satyabhama aur rukmini rani, dono krishn ki thi deewaani
bhaama agni ka angaara, rukmini shital jal ki dhaara
wo puja ke phul chadhati, yeh paayal ke geet sunaati
kanhaiya o kanhaiya koyi murali ki taan suna de
mere tann mann me aag laga de, laga de
kanhaiya o kanhaiya koyi murali ki taan suna de
mere tann mann me aag laga de, laga de
kanhaiya o kanhaiya
aa aa aa aa aa
main hi tohe dekhu sawariya, dekhe na koyi duji najariya
main hi to hu teri bawariya
main hi sunu bas tori basuriya bansi bajaiya
kanhaiya o kanhaiya koyi murali ki taan suna de
mere tann mann me aag laga de, laga de
kanhaiya o kanhaiya
janm divas rukmini ka aaya, sajni ne saajan ko bulaaya
vyakul naina baat nihaare, aaj mere ghar naath padhaare
main nahi jaane dungi kaanha, main na sunungi koyi bahana
priye kisika mann na todo, dekho, suno, jaane do, chhod o
narayan, narayan, baat huyi kya krishn muraari
kyun ruthi hai sundar naari
achchhe samay par aap padhaare, vipda me hai praan hamaare
rukmini kahe mere sang aao, bhaama kahe naath mat jaao
jiska nimantran aaya pehle, bhagvan jaaye uske mehle
narad ji, narayan
rukmini ke sang chale kanhaayi, bhaama ko yeh baat na bhaayi
narayan, kyun baithi ho khoyi khoyi, mere yogya hai seva koyi
bhare nahi abhi ghav purane, phir aaye ho aag lagane
main sabka sevak tum jaano, chahe parakh lo jo na maano
koi upay aap bataye, wo sautan ke ghar na jaaye
achchha to ek vrat rakhogi, apne pati ka daan karogi
wah wah dhoonda khub upay, aapse toh bas raam bachaaye
nis din dekhu jinke sapne, kho baithu woh pritam apne
tum nahi samajhi kaisa khona, unke barabar tolke sona
mol bhraman ko dena, mohan ko waapas le lena
bas itna hi, aap kare wrat ki taiyaari, bhaama jeeti rukmini haari
parantu krishn hai bhaari jitna, tere paas hai sona itna
wa narad ji, sone ke bhandar jo kholu, ek nahi sau krishn main tolu
narayan narayan
kuchh dhoka hai raam duhaayi, itni bhaari nahi kanhaayi
yeh tera sona nakali hai, mera manmohan asli hai
mere paas jo thali aayi, de do mujhko krishn kanhaayi
de du leke jara sa sona, mohan hai ya koyi khilauna
chal tujhko sansaar me bechu, daaso ke baazaar me bechu
lo yeh tambura bansi bajaiya, pakdo yeh kartal kanhaiya
bhama swami
kaisa swami, kiska swami, swami ki ho gayi nilami, nilami
suno suno ai jaane waalo hai yeh sasta maal utha lo
suno suno ai jaane waalo hai yeh sasta maal utha lo
sabki mann ki aas main bechu, kaisa sundar das main bechu
jivan ki naiya ka khiwaiya, iska naam hai krishn kanhaiya
iska naam hai krishn kanhaiya
main padti hu paanv tumhaare, nagari nagari dware dware
mujhko yu badnam karo na, shyam ko tum nilaam karo na
apna ghar jo aap jalaaye, uski bigadi kaun banaaye
bhul huyi mujhse yeh bhaari, jaau kaha viraha ki maari
rukmini se tum baat yeh puchho, kaise milenge naath yeh puchho
rukmini meri bhul bhula de, koyi jatan kar krishn mila de
aa bhaama main tujhpe waari, tu hai mere krishn ki pyaari
kya yeh dukh kewal tera hai, jo tera hai woh mera hai
na maaya se, na shakti se, bhagvan milte hai bhakti se
kanhaiya kanhaiya kanhaiya kanhaiya
kanhaiya kanhaiya kanhaiya kanhaiya
pat meri rakho mere bansi bajaiya
kanhaiya kanhaiya kanhaiya kanhaiya
jivan do paladu ka taraaju, ek me jag saara, ek me bas tu
jag halka tu bhaari bansi bajaiya
kanhaiya kanhaiya kanhaiya kanhaiya

Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Kanhaiya O Kanhaiya - कन्हैया ओ कन्हैया
Satyabhama and Rukmini, Queens entwined,
Both consumed by Krishna, of a different kind.
Bhama, a fiery ember, burning bright,
Rukmini, cool water, bathed in moonlight.
She offered blooms of worship, a fragrant plea,
While Rukmini sang songs of anklets, wild and free.
Kanhaiya, O Kanhaiya, play your flute's sweet call,
Ignite the fire within my body and soul.
Kanhaiya, O Kanhaiya, play your flute's sweet call,
Ignite the fire within my body and soul.
Kanhaiya, O Kanhaiya, ah, ah...
I alone see you, my dark-skinned Lord,
No other gaze shall dare be adored.
I am yours, forever bound,
To your flute's sweet, sacred sound.
O flute player,
Kanhaiya, O Kanhaiya, play your flute's sweet call,
Ignite the fire within my body and soul.
Kanhaiya, O Kanhaiya.
Rukmini's birthday arrived, a joyous day,
Her beloved called, in a loving way.
Tearful eyes, awaiting his blessed trace,
My Lord has come to grace my dwelling place.
I won't let you go, Kanha, I vow,
I won't listen to any excuse now.
Beloved, don't break another's heart,
Look, listen, leave, and depart.
Narayana, Narayana.
What has transpired, Krishna, oh, Lord of all?
Why is the beautiful woman caught in a fall?
You have arrived at a fortunate hour,
When our lives are in the throes of power.
Rukmini says, "Come, stay with me, my love!"
Bhama declares, "My Lord, no further move!"
Whose invitation came first, you see?
To their home, the Lord of all shall be!
Narad Ji, Narayana.
Krishna goes with Rukmini, taking her hand,
Bhama's heart aches, she cannot withstand.
Narayana, why lost in thought, so deep?
Is there a service for me to keep?
Old wounds haven't healed, they still remain,
And yet you return to ignite the flame.
I am your servant, you must know,
Test me if you will, and let it show.
Tell me a way, a plan to find,
So he won't go to her, leaving me behind.
Then, take a vow, you must agree,
To offer your husband, a gift to me.
What a plan, a cunning scheme,
May Ram protect you from this dream!
I see his face in dreams, I yearn,
To lose my beloved, and forever burn.
You don't understand the pain of loss,
Weigh him against gold, at any cost.
Then, to the market, you shall go,
And trade Mohan back, to end the show.
Just this, prepare for the vow's decree,
Bhama wins, Rukmini, you will see.
But Krishna's worth is far more true,
Than all the gold that lies with you.
Narad Ji, if I open my store of gold,
I'd trade for one, not a hundredfold!
Narayana, Narayana.
There's deception here, Ram's decree,
Krishna's worth is not in gold, you see.
Your gold is false, a mere facade,
My Mohan, my love, is truly God.
The plate I have, I now bestow,
Give me Krishna, please let him go.
Give him to me, with a pinch of gold,
Is Mohan a toy, a story told?
Go, sell him in the marketplace,
Sell him to the slaves, in this place.
Take this tambura, the flute's sweet call,
Hold these cymbals, Krishna, for all.
Bhama, my lord.
Whose lord, whose master, this I see,
My lord is for sale, in a market decree!
Listen, listen, all who pass by,
Take this cheap ware, oh, do not deny!
I'll sell the hopes of every heart,
Such a beautiful slave, a work of art!
The helmsman of life, the guiding light,
His name is Krishna, shining so bright!
His name is Krishna, shining so bright!
I fall at your feet, in prayer and plea,
Through every town, and everywhere, for me.
Don't bring me this shame, this distress,
Don't auction my Shyam, my blessedness!
You set your own house on fire, it's true,
Whose misfortune will you mend, for you?
This grave mistake, I've come to know,
Where shall I go, in sorrow's flow?
Ask Rukmini, for the words she'll impart,
How to find my Lord, within my heart.
Rukmini, forgive my foolish plea,
Find a way, and set Krishna free.
Oh, Bhama, I bow to you, so true,
You are my Krishna's beloved, through and through.
Is this sorrow only yours to bear?
What's yours is mine, beyond compare.
Not through illusion, nor through might,
But through devotion, you find the light.
Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya,
Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya.
Keep my honor, my flute player,
Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya.
Life, a balance on a scale so grand,
One side the world, the other, your hand.
The world is light, you are heavy, my flute player,
Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya, Kanhaiya.
Keep my honor, my flute player, Jai Jai Krishna Kanhai!
Jai Jai Krishna Kanhai! Jai Jai Krishna Kanhai!
Both consumed by Krishna, of a different kind.
