Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Khajan Chidaiyaa - खजान चिडैया
A sparrow, a grain clutched tight in its beak,
Soaring, it sought a perch, a humble peak.
The grain slipped free, a whisper to the ground,
Sinking within a post, no solace found.
To the carpenter, it flew, a plea so small,
"Hew the post, for in its heart, my grain, my all!
What shall I eat, what drink, before I roam?"
The carpenter scoffed, "For a grain? Begone from home!"
Grief swelled within, a tear upon its wing,
To the king it flew, its fragile offering.
"King, chide the carpenter, set the post free!
My sustenance within, what will become of me?"
The king, with a frown, dismissed its urgent plight,
"For a grain, the carpenter? Away from my sight!"
Undeterred, the sparrow, courage in its breast,
Sought the queen's ear, a haven for its quest.
"Queen, implore the king, the carpenter restrain!
My single grain trapped, fueling endless pain."
The queen, with a sigh, echoed the king's decree,
"For a grain, the king? You fool, away from me!"
Anger now arose, a fire in its soul,
To the serpent's coil, it surrendered control.
"Serpent, bite the queen, let her understand!
My grain's imprisonment, across the land."
The serpent refused, its heart untouched by woe,
Then to a staff, its desperate plea did go.
"Staff, strike! For my grain, where hope has ceased to bloom!"
"Peace," spoke the staff, "For a grain, I meet my doom."
Then, witnessing a fight, a chaos it did see,
"For a grain," it thought, "they seek to set me free!"
To the fire's embrace, then its desperate cry,
"Fire, consume the staff, beneath the sky!"
"No," the fire replied, "I cannot, must not burn."
The sparrow then to the ocean did turn.
"Ocean, extinguish fire, a raging plight!"
"No," the ocean said, "My depths are vast, my heart is wide."
Then to the elephant, it gave its plea,
"Elephant, calm the ocean, set my spirit free!"
The elephant, with a nod, agreed at last,
"My strength I'll lend, the moment has come to cast."
Together they journeyed, the elephant's might and the ocean's grace,
To the ocean's shores, they found their place.
"Do not entreat me, I merely quench the flame."
Then, the path became clear, a new course it claimed.
"Fire," the sparrow cried, "Quench no more my flame."
"I burn the staff."
The staff now smites the snake.
"The snake does bite the queen, a fate to make."
"The Queen will beg the King."
"The King does chide the carpenter."
And the carpenter, with a sigh, the post did cleave.
The sparrow, its grain retrieved, took wing so light,
Soaring now, released, into endless light.
Soaring, it sought a perch, a humble peak.
The grain slipped free, a whisper to the ground,
Sinking within a post, no solace found.
To the carpenter, it flew, a plea so small,
