What is this dance, across the shifting sand?

Such is my fate, a canvas stark and bare,
A father's face, a vision I cannot share.
Who will embrace me, comfort my despair?
A mother's love, a solace I can't ensnare.
My eyes behold the world, yet fortune's cruel hand,
Here, laughter rings, across this barren land.
While sorrow weeps, a tear-stained, mournful plea,
In your creation, what can this discord be?
