ek zara hath badha, de to pakadale daman
uske sine me sama jaye hamari dhadakan
itani kurbat hai to phir fasala itana kyu hai

dil-e-barbad se nikala nahi ab tak koi
ek lute ghar pe diya karta hai dastak koi
aas jo tut gayi phir se bandhata kyu hai

tum masarrat ka kaho ya ise gam ka rishta
kahte hai pyar ka rishta hai janam ka rishta
hai janam ka jo ye rishta to badalta kyu hai

How does one speak the silent ache,
Of solitude, a life bereft?
The one once ours, why does he take,
Another's hand, where love is left?

If this is the world, this cruel facade,
Then why this sorrow, heavy, deep?
If fate's the compass, a path unmade,
Why does the heart its vigil keep?

A hand outstretched, a hopeful plea,
To grasp a life, to be embraced.

Why such a chasm tears apart?
