dori ye khichi dori plne ki tune modi
mere sapno ko jhulaya sari raat
bhale bagiya teri chhodi bhale nindiya teri chori
bas itti si yad to rakhiyo mere pas
teri lad ki main teri lad ki main
teri lad ki main chhodungi na tera hath
teri lad ki main teri lad ki main
teri lad ki main chhodungi na tera hath
aa aa aa
babul more babul more
itni si arj mori sun le
teri lad ki main
rahungi teri teri lad ki main
kitni bhi main dur tose chahe rahu
jara aanch bhi to kabhi mujh pe
jo aati bhar jati thi ankhiya tor
phir aisa bhi kya tera mujh se bair
phir aisa bhi kya tera mujh se bair
kar parai mohe mukh liya kyu pher
pas hi apne rakh le kuchh der
ud jayega pakhi hote hi saver
teri lad ki main teri lad ki main
teri lad ki main chhodungi na tera hath
This is nothing short of an almost magical composition and rendition by
everyone in this video. To have the song starting and ending with the
xylophone, which alone conveys to anyone familiar with Hindi film music the
memory of infancy or childhood, to the shehnai at 4:13 introducing the
coming of age, the emotion of pain at 5:46, and the synthesis of loving
self-reference from both the infant and adult girl child, all woven in to
create a rich and moving experience for the listener. I first heard this
song (many times over) a few months ago, and ever since my daughter was
born, I find that I cannot separate the two.experiences, that of enjoying
holding and watching her grow and thinking how precious the bond between a
father and his daughter is to both. Immense thanks go to Sachin-Jigar and
the band, singers for creating something truly unforgettable for as long as
I believe I might live.
