To find a haven, a different door,
Where can they reside, in this wounded heart's core?

Four days we were granted, in life's maze,
Two vanished in longing, two in waiting's haze,

The nightingale laments not the gardener's hand,
Nor the hunter's snare in the shifting sand,
For fate decreed her prison, within spring's command,

How wretched is Zafar, for a final sleep,
To be buried in dust, where shadows creep,

Superb performance by Habib Wali Mohammad. This is one of his two all time
best ghazals recorded in India. The other being " Ye Na Thee Hamari Qismat
" penned by Mirza Ghalib. Both ghazals were tuned by none other than the
first female Music Director of the SUBCONTINENT Saraswati Devi ( Real name
Khorsheed Minocher-Homji ). Great upload.

This is my favorite Zafar Ghazal. The heat wrenching pathos, agony, pull at
your heart strings! A mighty Moghul Badusha crying his heart out in a
foreign land. "Do gaz zameen na mili kohe yaar me". His poetry will live

Seems it is Habib wali Mohammad himself talking about his life. Memons are
not known for being that much into advanced Urdu language in speaking let
alone superb singing like him. Being born in Rangoon where the last Mughal
Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, was extradited after the Indian freedom riots
against the British in India in 1858. His son's head was also presented to
him by the British on a platter. Now they claim with the Americans to be
the muost civilized people on earth.
