Lyrics of Laila Majnu Do Badan Ek Jaan The (2) - लैला मजनू दो बदन एक जान थे
laila majnu do badan ek jaan the
ek jaan the
jajaba-e-ishk-o-wafa ki shaan the
jajaba-e-ishk-o-wafa ki shaan the
jajaba-e-ishk-o-wafa ki shaan the, shaan the
laila majnu do badan ek jan the
ek jaan the, ek jaan the
do kabile aamri aur sardari
jinme thi pushton purani dushmani
un kabilo ki thi ye noor-e-najar
jinke dil me kar liya ulfat ne ghar
aur ye ulfat ibadat ban gayi
hukm-e-rakt mansa ye kudrat ban gayi
maksad unka tauba ye ulfat bana
ulfat bana ulfat bana
jalwa-e-irukh did ki jannat bana
jalwa-e-irukh did ki jannat bana, jannat bana
laila majnu do badan ek jan the
ek jan the
ek din maktabi mulla ne kaha
sab likho takhti me nam allah ka
sabne likha sirf majnu hi magar
laila laila likh raha tha bekhabar
laila laila likh raha tha bekhabar
taish is par aa gaya ustaad ko
kaise sahta khush or ilah ka
usne majnu ko saja-e-sakht di
har saja ki jard laila par ladi
har saja ki jard laila par ladi
maulwi khafa ye manjar dekh kar
aap dida ho gaya is bhul par
pyar masuno ka ruswa ho gaya
ja baja dono ka charcha ho gaya
jab suna laila ke walid ne ye haal
sharam aayi aur hua behad malaal
usne laila se kaha martab na jaye
ghar ki chokhat se kadam bahar na laye
ek din bekar pahre ho gaye
laila aur majnu achanak kho gaye
dono sardaro ke waisihat chha gayi
mayan se talwar bahar aa gayi
par jo gujre ek nahkmi sitan se
dekhte hi rah gaye hairan se hairan se
laila majnu khel me masrukh the
laila majnu khel me masrukh the
galid majnu ne dekha gaur se
aur kaha laila ke walid se huzur
khelne dije inhe kijiye naa dur
khelne dije inhe kijiye naa dur
taias me laila ke walid ne kaha
kal ik yahi khel ek bada ban jayega
baddua hoga gharano ke liye
sharm hoga khandaano ke liye
ye gaddar khich kar laila ka hath
le gaya is tarah usko apne sath
le gaya is tarah usko apne sath
phir na koi dekhne aaya unhe
dekhne paya unhe
jane kis basti me thahraya unhe
jane kis basti me thahraya unhe
jane kis basti me thahraya unhe
ek jaan the

Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Laila Majnu Do Badan Ek Jaan The (2) - लैला मजनू दो बदन एक जान थे
Two bodies, Laila and Majnun, one soul,
One soul,
They were the glory of love and devotion's role,
Glory of love and devotion's role, glory of soul.
Two bodies, Laila and Majnun, one soul,
One soul, one soul.
Two tribes, the Amiri and the Sardari,
Where ancient hatred flowed, a bitter sea,
From them, these lights, a vision bright,
Whose hearts love claimed, a sacred right.
And this love became a prayer so true,
A divine will, the heavens knew,
Their purpose, penance, love's decree,
Love's decree, love's decree,
A vision of the Beloved, paradise for me,
A vision of the Beloved, paradise, you see.
Two bodies, Laila and Majnun, one soul,
One soul.
One day, the schoolmaster did declare,
"Write, on your tablets, God's sacred name with care."
All wrote, but Majnun, lost in his own plight,
Wrote only "Laila," with all his might.
The teacher, enraged, his temper flared,
"How dare you, of God's name, you have not cared?"
He punished Majnun, a harsh decree,
Yet every blow, to Laila, she would flee.
The cleric, angered, watched this scene unfold,
His eyes then opened, the story to behold.
Love's example, the way of the heart,
When their story did start, it set the world apart.
When Laila's father heard the news that spread,
Shame arose, and grief he bled.
He told Laila, "No more shall you go,
From your home, your footsteps, do not bestow."
One day, the guards, they fell asleep,
Laila and Majnun, their secrets to keep.
The chieftains’ rage, a fearful sign,
From their sheaths, the swords did shine.
But when they saw a sight so grand,
They were struck, their weapons in hand,
Laila and Majnun, in play, were enthralled,
Laila and Majnun, in play were enthralled.
Majnun's gaze, it pierced the scene,
And to Laila's father, he did convene,
"Let them play, and do not make them part,
Let them play, within their tender heart."
Laila's father, in anger's sway,
"Tomorrow, this play will go astray,
A feud, for families to face,
Shame upon these clans, disgrace.
This traitor, pulling Laila's hand,
Took her away, across the land."
Never again, to see them, he could glean,
To see them, he could glean,
To what village, they had been,
He could not glean.
One soul,
They were the glory of love and devotion's role,
Glory of love and devotion's role, glory of soul.
