wish some one give me the meaning of this song. We had 78 disk.behind it was full version of jana gana mana. It belong to my father I am sure he did not know the meaning but loved the song. this was the only record we had for a long time till my father acquired more south indian classical music,

No Sir, Pankaj Mallick never recorded this song. Hemanta Mukherjee has recorded with Binota Roy (nee Bose) first for Humrahi-1944. He recorded the sang solo also. Again, he recorded this with Lata Mageshkar as a duet. On the reverse was TOMAR HOLO SHURU, duet by Hemnta-Lata.

Interestingly, Hemanta never, as far as I know, sang this song solo, unlike other duets of his like 'tomar holo shuru' which are available as solo renderings.
