Each lane did whisper, "He is he!"

A spell descended on Vrindavan's heart,
As the flute's sweet song tore worlds apart.
Leaving the bed, a gopi's dance began,
Forgetting all, embracing love's plan.

A maiden sat, adorning her face,
But the flute's call stole her grace.
Bracelets on feet, anklets in hand,
One eye without kohl, a broken command.
Her body forgotten, her senses gone,
How did you bewitch her?

Another spilled water at the well's way.
Friends lost all shame, a dance they did weave,

Radha, the city's jewel, towards the Dancer did turn,
The dance began, and the friends did learn.

His form, in their eyes, took its toll.

All the gopis watched, entranced,

As many gopis, so many Krishnas appeared,
Each with a gopi, no longer feared.
Eyes met, arms embraced, the dance took hold,
Each thought herself, the one so bold.

The Lord of the world, in the Braj land did reside,
The gopis, His essence, with Him did confide.
Losing themselves in Shyam's form divine,

Drinking love's nectar, no longer thine.
The Supreme, the Truth, for His devotees' sake,
Love's devotion He took, the Yogis' wake.
