Very true, however I feel all is not lost yet. Some music directors are trying their best to bring in folk, sufi songs, classical singers and raga based songs in the film industry. With all the talent hunts, every year we discover great singers both in children and adults. We have dumped the likes of Kumar Sanu's and other mediocre singers for good.
Although it's nothing compared to the dedication and the quality of the old songs, I think there is still hope.

R.D used to called Gulzar as ''safed kauwe' the white crow as he always use
to ware white when ever he came to pancham for song R.D used to say aja
mere safed kauwe kya naya likh kar laya hain leter in one of his interview
Gulzar said mere sucess ka do pilar hain pahla pancham aur dusra hari
(sanjeev kumar).

The question was not whether R.D. had Great talent or not. He was born with
one BUT it somehow always needed some, some unkown touch or knock on his
heart that than came up with exceptionally too good of melodies here and
there that stood out well ahead of rest of his creations.

Old is gold! Very beautiful song, I wish Indian cinema could make songs and
movies like this today. In the 1970s Indian movies were so popular in
Afghanistan and other countries but today those days are gone and actors
like those are gone. Thanks 4 upload
