If you think this was a movie & just another song, think again. Meena
devoted herself to worship her husband (an Indian tradition of the bye gone
era); got addicted, so she can be a good company; did not work. Meena
dreamt, her longing took her to her grave before turning 40. End of this
movie is one of the saddest I have seen. Leaving Las Vegas was open, this
was subtle.

A beautiful song from one of the last movies of Guru Dutt, pain can be felt
in Geeta's voice & Meena's acting. Guru Dutt left soon after, Meena's real
life followed the same path like her role & finally her journey ended a
decade later. King, Queen & Jack was a hit. Watching it can be painful.

Geeta Dutts magical voice combined with the magical screen persona Meena Kumari is a lethal combination. If it wasn't for her tumultuous life, Geeta would have been the singing legend which went to Asha. Its so sad that during this lady's hard time no music director came to help her or console her. RIP geetaji.
