yehi to samjh nhi hai

tum se door rehta hun
to pass aane ko man karta hai
to manna kis ne kiya hai

Oh, the Beloved, where is the Beloved? Mecca of the Beloved's gaze,
Throne of a thousand hearts, the Beloved is Allah's embrace.
The Beloved, the Master, the world's entirety, the boundless space,
If in the Beloved's cloak I find my final place,
My soul released, heavenward it will race.
Listen, O heart, to the Beloved's grace.

If memories steal your sleep at night,
Then swallow a pill, embrace the fading light.
If a beloved face haunts your sight,
What can you do, caught in endless plight?
Close your eyes, and let go of the fight.

Does this not happen to you, this echoing ache?
Then why have you come, for goodness sake?
Because the heart compels, the spirit to make.
And why does the heart, its own course to take?
Ah, that is the mystery, for goodness sake.

Though I keep distance, to draw near I yearn,
Who has ever, truly, given this a turn?
