I shall not heed those who turn from the Lord,

For love of the Lord, a nectar sweet, a joy that knows no end,
Each moment blessed, dispelling woes, a faithful, loving friend.
To hate the Lord, a venomous spite, a poison that will rend,

The fear of life's illusions, God as Vamana came,
Before King Bali, a humble plea, a purpose set aflame.
The giver at the beggar's door, a divine, wondrous game,
The Lord now begging, a devotee to claim.
The demon-guru, Shukracharya, entered then, unseen,
Within the vessel, to obstruct what should have been.
He stopped the flow, a sacred vow, to prevent the offering's grace,
But Vamana, with a rod, struck the guru in the face.
Shukracharya, in alarm, released the water's hold,
As Bali's resolve was now fulfilled, the story to unfold.
The Inner-Dweller, the Eternal, the Vamana form shone bright.

With the first step, the earth He measured, the heavens with the second tread,
For the third, a place of honor, from Bali, the King, He said.
The noble Bali, bowed in reverence, his head in humble plight,
"May this impure body, Lord, be blessed with holy light."
For the good of the gods, the Lord in the Vamana guise,
The very same Lord who saves all, from sorrow's endless sighs.
Who hears the Vishnu Purana, crosses the ocean wide,
Keshav, ocean of grace, merciful, victory to the Lord, abide.
Sing the glories, sing of Hari, who erases every tear,
Sing the glories, sing of Hari, who erases every fear.
Victory to the Lord, forever, victory to the Lord!
