Lyrics of Sakhi Humro Atal Suhag - सखी हमरो अटल सुहाग
sakhi hamro atal suhag shyam sapne me aaye
dekho hamre jage bhag sakhi hum un sang byahe
na to baja dhol nahi sahnayi baji
na to baja dhol nahi sahnayi baji
mohan ke basuriya me aap hi nachi
mai nachi ho dekh dekh ankhiya bhar laaye
mai nachi ho dekh dekh ankhiya bhar laaye
bhakto ke bhagwan ne uthkar pair dabaye
shyam sapne me aaye sakhi hamro atal suhag
shyam sapne me aaye dekho hamre jage bhag
sakhi hum un sang byahe
mand mand muskayi sakhi kaliya madhuban ki
mand mand muskayi sakhi kaliya madhuban ki
laaz se jhuk gaye nain umange nachi man ki
girdharlal ka byah racha tare muskaye
girdharlal ka byah racha tare muskaye
meera ki ankhiyo me do aasi sharmaye
shyam sapne me aaye sakhi hamro atal suhag
shyam sapne me aaye dekho hamre jage bhag
sakhi hum un sang byahe
dekho hamre jage bhag sakhi hum un sang byahe
na to baja dhol nahi sahnayi baji

Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Sakhi Humro Atal Suhag - सखी हमरो अटल सुहाग
My sister, my heart's eternal bliss, Shyam came to me in dreams,
Behold, my fortune blooms, sister, I am wed to Him, it seems.
No drums did beat, no wedding horns did sound,
No drums did beat, no wedding horns were found,
Upon Mohan's flute, I danced, spirit unbound,
I danced, and watching, His eyes with tears did drown,
The God of devotees, He rose, my feet to press,
Shyam came to me in dreams, my heart's eternal bliss,
Shyam came to me in dreams, behold, my fortune blooms,
Sister, I am wed to Him, it seems.
Softly, softly smiled, sister, the blossoms of the grove,
Softly, softly smiled, sister, the blossoms of the grove,
Shame-faced, my eyes bowed down, while my heart did move,
Giridhar's wedding, the stars themselves did smile,
Giridhar's wedding, the stars themselves did smile,
In Mira's eyes, two tears, shy for a while,
Shyam came to me in dreams, my heart's eternal bliss,
Shyam came to me in dreams, behold, my fortune blooms,
Sister, I am wed to Him, it seems.
Behold, my fortune blooms, sister, I am wed to Him, it seems.

Another shimmering Lata song from the magical Roshan baton. Although I don't like the categorical devotion of beautiful Chand Usmani's blind character to her callous husband, she portrays it with extraordinary realism, as Meena Kumari does in Sahaara . One wants to rescue her and surround her with all the comforts of the world. It is a relief to see her husband awaken to his lost humanity at the end. Thanks, Ajay.

You covered it all so eloquently, Da. And it is nice to know the end of the
movie, given the portrayal of Chand Usmani's character, blind and dressed
in tattered clothes, as one sees this clip and the other song-clips from
this film. The song filled with sweet pathos is very melodious though, sung
perfectly by Lataji, as always, and makes up for the feelings evoked as one
sees CU and MS. Best again. And much thanks to Ajayji for uploading yet
another gem from this film.
