qayaamat kyaa ye ai husn-e-do_aalam hoti jaati hai

wahi hai saahil-o-saaqi magar dil bujhataa jaataa hai
wahi hai shamma-e-dil roshani kam hoti jaati hai

wahi mayakhaana-o-rahabaan wahi shishaa wahi saagar
magar aawaaz-e-naushaanosh maddham hoti jaati hai

wahi hai zindagi lekin 'jigar' ye haal hai apanaa
ke jaise zindagi se zindagi kam hoti jaati hai

The spirit, these days, estranged by sorrow's weight,
My portion of joy, it seems, begins to abate.
Is this the day of reckoning, beauty's fatal art?
The gathering remains, but the soul departs.

The shore and the cupbearer, still in their place,
But the heart's ember dims, light fading from its face.
The tavern, the guide, the glass and the chalice remain,
Yet the joyous cries of revelry grow faint in their strain.
Life, it's still life, but 'Jigar,' this is my plight,
As if life itself diminishes, fading from sight.
