bedardi teer kaman se teri chhati denge cheer
o aisa lagta hai pyar ke kuch ache nahi sanjog
humko mar ke bhi soniya nahi milne denge log

sun sahiba sath yakin ke rakh pyar ki laaz jara
meri fakir se dar na fariste te jat se dare khuda
aane de unko samne hone de lahu luhan
chupchap thamsa dekh tu tu sadh ke meri jaan
ye baat nahi jante mere dushman tere beer
jo maar sake mujhe soniye nahi bana vo teer

Arise, Mirza, from slumber, awaken, your Sahib calls,
You, alone, must flee, for horsemen ride on your heels.
They come for revenge, these foes of yours, my love,
With cruel arrows they'll pierce your breast, a wound to prove.
It seems in love, good fortune eludes our embrace,
Even in death, my beloved, we'll find no meeting place.

Hear, Sahib, with faith, hold fast to love's precious keep,
Fear not a beggar, angels tremble, before God, they weep.
Let them come forth, let blood stain the sand,
Watch silently, my soul, upon this promised land.
My foes, your brothers, are blind to this truth, my dear,
The arrow that could kill me, has yet to appear.
