Lyrics of Ye Na The Hamari Kismat Ke (2) - ये ना थे हमारी किस्मत के
tere vaade par jeeye hum
to ye jaan, jhuth jana
tere vaade par jeeye hum
to ye jaan, jhuth jana
ke khushi se mar na jate
agar aitbaar hota
ye na thi humari kismat
ke vishale yaar hota
agar aur jeete rahte
yahi intzaar hota
ye na thi humari kismat
kahu kisse mai, ke kya hai
shabe gum buri bala hai
kahu kisse mai, ke kya hai
shabe gum buri bala hai
mujhe kya bura tha marna
agar ek baar hota
ye na thi humari kismat
ke vishale yaar hota
agar aur jeete rahte
yahi intzaar hota
ye na thi humari kismat
to ye jaan, jhuth jana
tere vaade par jeeye hum
to ye jaan, jhuth jana
ke khushi se mar na jate
agar aitbaar hota
ye na thi humari kismat
ke vishale yaar hota

Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Ye Na The Hamari Kismat Ke (2) - ये ना थे हमारी किस्मत के
Upon your vows, we staked our breath,
And found them lies, a bitter death.
Upon your vows, we staked our breath,
And found them lies, a bitter death.
We would have gladly slipped away,
If faith had bloomed, and lit the day.
This fate was not for us to know,
To hold a lover, soft and slow.
If life continued, what would be?
The waiting game, eternally.
This fate was not for us to know.
To whom can I confess my plight?
That nights of sorrow choke the light.
To whom can I confess my plight?
That nights of sorrow choke the light.
How sweet the end, to fade and cease,
If once, at least, brought solace, peace.
This fate was not for us to know,
To hold a lover, soft and slow.
If life continued, what would be?
The waiting game, eternally.
This fate was not for us to know.

One of the best ghazals, Chitra Singh does a fabulous job here. And the scene in the serial is quite an emotional one.

So more than 150 years are gone, every verse is as fresh today as it was back then. I have a lot of respects for any one who has sung this. It is true dying once is easy; however, when we live we die every day, so is the drudgery of life.
