Decades are gone, the story has been told over & over again. I have no idea
how many other versions exist, but from Zindagi Ya Toofan to this movie,
tells only one thing, some stories will never get old (not at least not in
our life time). Yes, this is another take on Umrao Jan Ada, the bye gone
culture of Lucknow which is a distant memory. Do you know a movie was made
almost 30 years ago, The same title Salma. I have seen that one, though do
not remember all the way through.

My last posting was 7 months ago, though the memories go way far back,
decades ago (+50 years), I cannot add anything new. There is nothing new
under these blue skies. Love, false promises, believing in them just to
find, fate has unpleasant surprises for us. Whether we love our ideals, or
someone in flesh & bones, does not matter. Our wishes are rarely granted.
This is a glamourous yet tragic end of another love story. For many it was
a tragic movie, for few of us this is our own story of life. Will it not be
interesting to die like this? But we cannot be that lucky.
