@sudeepchadha you need to be educated. This is poetic song written and
composed by the famous Bengali poet Jasimuddin. Sachin Dev Burman, born in
Bangladesh was an acquaintance of the poet and was familiar with the work
of Abbas Uddin, the Bangladeshi singer who used to sing Jasimuddin's songs.
Sachin Dev Burman took the song from Bengali. This is a Bengali song,
directly adapted to other languages.

Written By renowned Bangladeshi Rural Poet JasimUddin.
As the sun scorches mercilessly, the Bengali peasant sings imploring rain,
describing parched earth, parched lakes and rivers, parched flora and
fauna, and the suffering of parched humanity.. Bengali 'Allah Megh de, Pani
de, chaya dere tui Allah ...'to English-->Oh Allah, give clouds, give
water, give shelter, Oh dear one .
