She's Meena Kumari.the tragedy queeen of Bollywood. She died almost
imediately after this film was released. It took almost 12 years to
complete this movie due 2 her disastrous personal life. drifted wedlock,
over drinking etc etc. The movie was almost shelved when veteran bollywood
actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis. parents of Bollywood star Sunjay Dutt
intervened and completed the movie. t'was only after her death that the
movie became a super blockbuster. She is a true actor with awesome beauty.

This is my all time favorite song. Although I grew up in the west & I am
used to listening to rock music, I just love this song as it is so simple &
sweetly sang. As the song talks of the struggle to find true love &
happiness.And Lata sings this song so beautifully.Long live the URDU
language. As Urdu is the world's most spoken language.And simply put it is
a very lovely & beautiful language to speak & listen to. Thank you.

fell in love with this song.. while many Indians feel it is boring and

@shikaari321 There's very little difference between Standard Urdu and
Standard Hindi. All the words used in the lyrics here are commonly employed
by both languages. So it isn't unforgivably incorrect to call this a Hindi
song. I personally prefer Urdu because of gorgeous amalgamation of the
Persian and Arabic influences, but I don't see the need to quarrel over
such matters. Both languages have much the same roots, and the only real
difference in their standard versions is the script they use.

@tamurthDZ Despite your limited knowledge of this song and it's literary
merit you do seem to have refined taste! That's awesome. Yes, Lata was a
powerful and intense singer and she had strong mentors to get the best out
of her too. Meena Kumari isn't wearing a sari in this song. She is wearing
an Angrakha (limb keeper) on a flowing kameez (the tunic) with Churidaar
pajama (long fitted trousers that bunch up to given impression of cloth
bangles) and a dupatta (the shawl like garment).
