A very close friend owned the cinema-hall where this film was being
screened and entrance was free for me. I found this song so melodious and
enchanting that I watched this scene everyday for a fortnight or so. It
still haunts me as it did during my youth.

All songs of Basant Bahar are in a class of their own for which the music
directors, Shanker-Jaikishen, deserve great credit. Manna Dey's "Sur na
saje, kya gaon mein'' is equally unforgettable. Have you noticed that most
of Mohammed Rafi's 'bhajans,'starting from Baiju Bawra, were picturized on
the late Bharat Bhoosan who really excelled in these roles?

Based on a true story somewhere in present Karnataka,Basant Bahar was a
fine movie.All the songs were exceptionally good,SJ's compositions were
very different from their usual ones, not much of heavy orchestra.Nimmi's
performance needs special mention.Thanks.

To BhuvaneshB: with due respect I dont think this song is based on
Bilaskhani Todi. In my humble opinion it is more likely in Mian ki Todi or
raag lALIT because of the use of Ma tivar and komal together.

of classical nos . Now a days such songs never written or composed . Its
not that, composers, do not know the classical routes ... but taste of
classical nos more or less gone. To learn Classics . one needs to
devote whole life which needs passion and crush . No one has time to learn
so Music too has become disposable . Listen and forget .. Any how thanks

Thank U for reciprocating and as rightly pointed out - i am lover and die
hard believer in any music composed in classical notes. Its not only Indian
but the Western Classical notes such as Mozart or Beethoven are also best .
Pt Ravi Shankar the Sitar maestro settled in US since decades and had had
no of concert with different western European classical artist . U may like
to view . Of course the50s & 60s was best classic remember for ever

Rehman's Oscar Winner song ... Jay HO has been performed in US colleges by
youngsters in annual functions and winner was Spanish guys . Allahrakha and
his son too are best and settled in US making the world aware about the
