I listened this Ghazal in early 60s. I was boy of 10 or twelve by then.
This Ghazal was sung by a young man at the stage during mohalla festival. I
could not really understand the meanings but only was able to relate them
to the full moon on that night shining and spreading moon light all over
the area. That background remain some how engraved in my mind until now.

@TheUma2000 I remember the young fellow, a student from local college
perhaps belonging to Northern Areas, with heavy Urdu accent sang it so
close to original. Technically may be, he was not right but I was too small
to judge but that heavy accent made it look like the one I used to listen
from local radio station every now and then.

Friend told me this story last night and i'm still laughing. Faiz sahib
servant answer the door bell and inform faiz their is lady at door with
sweets and flowers to thank you for this beautiful ghazal faiz was
pleasantly surprise and told the servant to show her guest room. upon
seeing faiz she thanked him by saying I've shop in bazar-e-husen and ever
since i've wrote ur ghazal on signe bord my business has increased ten
times (chalay bhee aaio gulshan ka karobar chalay ) :D

Khan Sahib Mehdi Hasan Khan Sahib has the blessed voice and it is perhaps impossible to find his equivalent. What a melodious and clear voice that penetrates one's soul.
