This song is ultimate and if it had been in the movie...the movie could have done more better...sung to its utmost best by rafi sahib...no one can sing this song better than him...he was a blessing to Indian cinema and music of Indian history.
Yusuf Awan on April 08, 2010
I think Raj wanted that nothing should overcome his image of acting on
screen in his whole career, thats why he opted for lesser popular singer at
that time i.e. Mukesh. If he, also like other heroes, used Rafi's voice
then the popularity which has been credited to him may have been divided.
salim khalifa on April 28, 2010
may allah bless rafi saab with his beautifull voice ,the music world
salutes you
Rmehtacpa on May 23, 2010
@myawanatgmail And perhaps again that was because of usual Rajkapoor's over
reaching beyond his buondries into other areas of the film production
abid malik on June 16, 2010
this song made me cry...wah Rafi sahab wah.duniya ka koi mai ka lal
nahin hai jo rafi sahab ki tara ga sake...if someone invents a machine to
measure voice...rafi sahab,s voice will be best in all singers...
muzaffar shah on June 16, 2010
@TheAbidmalikk I fully agree with you. You just cannot reproduce Rafi's
voice again. he was unique. This song is my most favourite.

Wah, Rafi Saab..Soo touching. Ustaad Mohd Rafi was the best and always will
be!
mavirk on October 12, 2010
Did Raj Kapoor really edited out this song?
If he did, he did it for a reason: Raj Kapoor looks, moves and gesticulates like a poor parody of Charlie Chaplain. He is no Ranjha. He destroys the visual impact of the song just by spreading out his arms.

Having said that Raj Kapoor was a good movie maker, but acting is a gift which he did not have. He mimicked Chaplain in all his movies.

Listen to the song with a switched off monitor to appreciate the sound of Rafi.

Why rafi saab for this song. Simple, because no one in this earth could
have sung it. The high range and dard was quality of the genius that rafi
saab was, Add to that the best ever SJ. It has to be a treat
narinder kahlon on January 02, 2011
I never ever enjoyed this song because of Rajkapoor..but no
body else would have sung this song except the greatest of the
great.Rafi Sahib
muzaffar shah on January 02, 2011
@nickkahlon I couldnt agree more. Mukesh was more suited to Raj Kapoor than
Mohd Rafi.

narinder kahlon on January 04, 2011
As for ...Rafi Sahib is concerned no body could have sung in
the whole bollywood at that time..He is just beyond
limits..no match.
suriblingblinga on February 20, 2011
@suriblingblinga the first line should be it is obvious that you don't know crap... etc
Yusuf Awan on February 21, 2011
@suriblingblinga I respect your personal inclination towards Mukesh sahab,
its your right but please don't try to distort the known facts.
vijaykapoor1000 on February 21, 2011
@myawanatgmail ahahah you must be joking,.. it's you who obvious don't know the facts,.. and don't act smug my personal favourite is Mohd Rafi,.. but mukesh never was a underrated singer if you had some knowlegde about it you would knew it,.. but it seems u don't. search for the right facts and we will talk again
Yusuf Awan on February 22, 2011
@vijaykapoor1000 vijay sahab! I don't know why are you wasting your and my
time in vain, I admit Mukesh sahab was a great singer and had his own
league of fans at all times, but even in 50s all major heroes wanted Rafi
to sing for him, not only heroes but all major MDs also found it easier for
them to work with top singers like Rafi & Lata. Thats all from me.
suriblingblinga on February 22, 2011
@myawanatgmail it's true that many Great MD wanted to work with rafi and lata, but that too is divided i mean Naushad mainly used Mukesh and Rafi sahab in the 50s i am glad u admit that mukesh was a great singer
SD Burman disliked Lata Jee and Mukesh Jee but he had no choice to accept them causz the people liked them for example chal re sajni and o janevale ho sake etc Mohd rafi Is the best singer i know don't get me wrong yaar, but Mukesh was just as populare
iamforgop on April 15, 2011
TheAbidmalikk, I so share your emotions about Rafi Sahab. Not EVER will
there be another one who can touch his voice quality and range. He was/is
no mere mortal. Only divine intervention can make this happen.
nahroyo on July 15, 2011
Is this really from the movie "Mera naam joker"?
vijaykapoor1000 on August 14, 2011
you missed my point, i am not trying to discuss who is better, or who is more popular. you said that Raj Kapoor wanted Mukesh to sing for him because Mukesh wasn't a popular singer..and that is not true in fact Mukesh was one of the Three Most popular male singers of bollywood, if you talk about Top A-Class Singers then you'll have to put Mukesh on the same list as Rafi Kishore Lata Asha . Credit to those who deserve it .
Tariq Choudry on October 21, 2011
Well I agree with vijay Mukesh was A class singer with his own style. You
can't take that away from him, that would be unjust. Muhammad rafi,
Mukesh, talat, Lata asha, manaday even Kishor to some extant were all A class
singers. All with there own distinct style.

@vijaykapoor1000 friend the fact is that no one could come close to rafi--
mukesh ji was a good dinger and preffered choice of raj kapur- he stil had
to use rafi in this song by keeping all his problems aside. Pl see remarks
of Mr S.P Balasubramanyam in his interview on youtube, whereas he cites the
superiority of rafi over all others. Still above all, its always going to
be personal choice based agenda. cheers
vijaykapoor1000 on January 24, 2012
your point doesnt make sense... We all know that Mukesh isn't able to sing this kind of songs.. Mukesh genre was limited, hence Raj Kapoor used Rafi, or Manna Dey to sing harder songs. But that doesn't mean that Mukesh in his time, wasn't as populair as Rafi.. Infact Mukesh was as populair as Rafi, However when time passes Mukesh's populairty kept decreasing year by year. I think that's a shame. While Kishore and Rafi fans keep fighting eachother..Mukesh fans will always remain modest
Vimal Kr Goel on January 24, 2012
@vijaykapoor1000 Thanks-- well the basic is that we still respect the
elders and thats our culture- fight is healthy and may draw some good blood
out. one noteworthy mention is like Mukeshji-- rafi saheb also had to go
thru this phase from 70's onwards-- mainly to RD Burman's more proximity to
KK and that changed the classical character of singing forever- Still its
personal choice-- as there cant be second best and thats one feel i draw
after listening or comparing--just a choice may be

@goelvimal pl listen to song--- aa ab aayi barkha bahar--- i hope u will
love this song too. pl dont get me wrong- just a share of something i heard
today for ten first time.
vijaykapoor1000 on January 24, 2012
I know the song, and i like it very much, you should listen to Jhoomti Chali Hawa from the same movie, which got more credits. Thanks for sharing, it all about personal choices

Umpteen singers have sung 'Heer'. Among all the 'Heer' Songs the one from
Mera Naam Joker stands out, A great composition by SJ and sung by the great
voice of Rafiji, Never in another Heer will you find such variations, Utar,
Chadhao, Rukao and Tehrao. especially 'De De hamara dil hume wapas ---------'
I salute Rafi Sahab what a divine voice There is none like you saab. Dhanya
hai Bharat Desh jisne ye Ratan paida kiya.
As for Mukeshji he was another great singer I love him too.
