He dies cuz his boss shoots him (his boss wanted him to deliver drugs to some place, but he wouldnt). He dies in the middle of the movie. Arbaaz Khan (a police who's in love with Rani) gets shot in the heart, and even though Salman & him always disliked each other, he ends up getting Salman's heart. Sooo Salman comes back as a "spirit" and only Arbaaz can see him (since Arbaaz has Salman's heart).
