: The reason of his being keeping straight is nothing but the demand of the storyline. In the story Dilip encounters physical contact with Nimmi and makes her pregnant. Madhubala is unaware of the happening and dreams to marry Dilip. In song both are on a tour; and sensing guilt Dilip decides to tell the truth of his earlier affair but does not know how to tell while Madhu is all in the mood to enjoy his company. He is unable to share her joy and thats the reason of his serious mood.

@rajshail Thanks, but I've seen the movie too so I knew why he was so
sombre. Still, it must have been difficult to maintain an implacable face
around Madhubala. She was just so beautiful and joyful in this clipful.
