Lyrics of O Mere Raajaa Kafaa Na Honaa - ओ मेरे राजा खफ़ा ना होना
o o mere raaja
o o mere raaja khafa na hona, der se aayi, dur se aayi
majburi thi phir bhi maine
vada to nibhaya, vada to nibhaya
o o meri rani samajh gaya mai, vahi purana, tera bahana
der se aana aur ye kahna
vada to nibhaya, vada to nibhaya
intzar ke ek ek pal ka badla lunga, aisa bhi kya
ye na samajhna aaj bhi aise jaane dunga, aisa bhi kya
kitna sataaya paale uska hisaab do
akhiyo me akhiya daal ke javaab do
bachati bachaati, o o
bachati bachaati chhupati chhupaati
tum kya jaano kaise aayi
vada to nibhaaya, o o mere raaja
samajh gaya mai, vahi purana, tera bahana
der se aana aur ye kahna vada to nibhaya
o o mere raaja
baaho ki in zanjiro me yu na jakdo, ham jakadege
mud jaayegi meri kalayi haath na pakdo, ham pakadege
chhodo na, nahi, chhodo na
aise to naazuk nahi haath sarkaar ke
mauke bhi kabhi kabhi milte hai pyar ke
pyar abhi to, ho, o o
pyar abhi to naya naya hai
meri vafa ki kadar karo ki vada to nibhaaya
o o mere raaja khafa na hona, der se aayi, dur se aayi
majburi thi phir bhi maine
vada to nibhaya, vada to nibhaya
o o meri rani samajh gaya mai, vahi purana, tera bahana
der se aana aur ye kahna
vada to nibhaya, vada to nibhaya
kaho ye gaalo ke angare kiske liye hai, kaho kaho
aji tumhaare, haa haa haa haa
hotho pe ye shahad ke dhaare kiske liye hai, bolo bolo
aji tumhaare, haan
sharm kahaan ki aao gale lag jaao ji
kab se khada hu pyasa pyas bujhaao ji
hat jaao ji, bujhaao ji
badnaami se, ho, o o
badnaami se dar lagta hai
ye to socho kis mushkil se vada to nibhaaya
o o mere raaja
samajh gaya mai, vahi purana, tera bahana
der se aana aur ye kahna
vada to nibhaya, vada to nibhaya
o o mere raaja, o o meri rani
o o mere raaja khafa na hona, der se aayi, dur se aayi

Poetic Translation - Lyrics of O Mere Raajaa Kafaa Na Honaa - ओ मेरे राजा खफ़ा ना होना
Oh, my King,
Oh, my King, do not be angered, though late I came, from afar I came.
Compelled was I, yet still, I kept
My promise, I kept my promise.
Oh, my Queen, I understand, the same old tale, your excuse,
To arrive late and then to say,
"I kept my promise, I kept my promise."
For every moment of waiting, I shall seek my due, Is this not so?
Do not believe I'll let you go so easily now, Is this not so?
First, account for the torment you have wrought.
Meet my gaze, and offer your reply.
Evading, oh, oh,
Avoiding, hiding, concealing,
You cannot know how I arrived.
I kept my promise, oh, my King,
I understand, the same old tale, your excuse,
To arrive late and then to say, "I kept my promise."
Oh, my King.
Do not bind me so in these chains of your arms, We will bind you.
My wrist would twist, do not hold my hand, We will hold it.
Let go, no, let go,
Not so delicate are these hands of the ruler.
Rare are the chances for love.
Love is still, oh, oh,
Love is still new,
Value my loyalty, for I kept my promise.
Tell me, for whom are these embers on your cheeks, tell me, tell me.
For you, ha ha ha ha.
For whom are these streams of honey on your lips, speak, speak.
For you, yes.
Where is your shame? Come, embrace me.
I've stood thirsty for so long, quench my thirst.
Get away, quench it,
From disgrace, oh, oh,
I fear disgrace,
Consider from what hardship, I kept my promise.
Oh, my King,
I understand, the same old tale, your excuse,
To arrive late and then to say,
"I kept my promise, I kept my promise."
Oh, my King, oh, my Queen.
Oh, my King, do not be angered, though late I came, from afar I came.

The Glory of the Divine is present when "Princess of the Heavens" Hema Malini graces the screen with her radiant, spellbinding, hypnotic, charismatic, glorious, stunningly gorgeous,& eternally celestial presence! The ultimate "Pearl Princess", who time & time again dazzles the audience with her perfect doll-like face, is appearing here with the legendary Dev Anand, whom she refers to as "The Gregory Peck of India". Both legends are quite fond of one another & enjoyed a very pleasant working relationship. "Johnny Mera Naam" is their most successful pairing ever which became a mega hit of the 70s & one of THE landmark films of Hema's career since it established her immense popularity with movie goers:)

By Hema's own admission in her biography, she states that "Johnny Mera Naam" is one film that holds a very special place in her heart & it will always be so. She vividly recalls shooting this particular video where she & Dev Anand had to ride on an old-fashioned ropeway which didn't look very safe. Hema says she was very nervous about making it through the ride but Dev Anand was so sweet that he cracked funny jokes during the ride up top to lessen the tension & to eliminate Hema's nervousness:)
