Lyrics of Rulaa Ke Gayaa Sapanaa Meraa - रुला के गया सपना मेरा
rulaa ke gayaa sapanaa meraa
baithi hun kab ho saveraa, rulaa
vahi hai gam-e-dil, vahi hai chadaa, taare
haay, vahi ham besahaare
aadhi raat vahi hai, aur har baat vahi hai
phir bhi na aayaa luteraa, rulaa
kaisi ye zindagi, ki saanso se ham, ube
haay, ki dil dubaa ham dube
ek dukhiyaa bechaari, is jivan se haari
us par ye gam kaa andheraa, rulaa
baithi hun kab ho saveraa, rulaa
vahi hai gam-e-dil, vahi hai chadaa, taare
haay, vahi ham besahaare
aadhi raat vahi hai, aur har baat vahi hai
phir bhi na aayaa luteraa, rulaa
kaisi ye zindagi, ki saanso se ham, ube
haay, ki dil dubaa ham dube
ek dukhiyaa bechaari, is jivan se haari
us par ye gam kaa andheraa, rulaa
Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Rulaa Ke Gayaa Sapanaa Meraa - रुला के गया सपना मेरा
My dream, it wept and then departed,
I sit and wait for dawn to rise, weeping…
The sorrow of the heart remains, the moon, the stars, they stay,
Alas, we, bereft, still sway.
Midnight’s hush, the same old ways,
Yet the thief of joy still stays away, weeping…
What life is this, that we are weary of our breath,
Alas, our hearts are drowned in death.
A forlorn soul, weary of this existence,
Upon her, sorrow's darkness deepens, weeping…
I sit and wait for dawn to rise, weeping…
The sorrow of the heart remains, the moon, the stars, they stay,
Alas, we, bereft, still sway.
Midnight’s hush, the same old ways,
Yet the thief of joy still stays away, weeping…
What life is this, that we are weary of our breath,
Alas, our hearts are drowned in death.
A forlorn soul, weary of this existence,
Upon her, sorrow's darkness deepens, weeping…

S.D.Burman should have won the best music director award in the FILMFARE AWARDS for composing the mmusic of this film..but he didn't...also same did happen when he didn't get award for the music for guide and aradahana..filmfare awards have been and still are very much biased depriving the actual winners

The genius of S.D.Burman has been vividly shown in this most heart wrenching composition and sung so passionately by India's melody queen Lata. Also the versatility of SD's talent can be judged by the totally different type of song in " Raat Akeli Hai" which has a kind of frisky, catchy tune from the same film "Jewel Thief"
