Touche' ! I am a firm believer of that. Only Originals for me. I detest
this new trend of "versions" and lose respect for those who listen and
promote them. People argue with me, that the 'versions' provide livelihood
to a lot of artists, but I dont buy that. My take on this is, if you are a
good enough artist your creativity and innovation will be appreciated
eventually. OR just declare yourself as a "mimicry artist". Remix versions
where they add extra orchestra(dhinchak) ruin the song.

It depends on which movies. So many movies are made in Bollywood these days
that of course a majority of them STINK - plot wise and musically. But
there are still some excellent songs that come from newer films. Look at
Ajab Si from Om Shanti Om and Kehta Hai Baabul from Baabul. Om Shanti Om
may not be a movie that stands the test of time, but the songs is very
moving. That song from Baabul makes me cry every time I hear it because it
reminds me of the love my father and I have.

People who say Bollywood songs are mostly in Urdu need to do some research
on languages. You cannot separate the two languages unless it is in a
written for ie Urdu in Persian-Arab script and Hindi in Devnagri script and
they are mutually intelligible. It is worth mentioning that Urdu was
developed in India when non standard HINDI was influenced by Persian /
Arabic languages during Mughal period. Please don't talk poop if you don't
know what you are talking about.

Mukesh seems superior in this particular song than many of his colleagues due the sole 'Superior Lyrics by Anand Bakshi' and Immortal Lata. Though Mukesh Ji is my 2nd best after Rafi, but in this song he surpasses anyone due to the 'Team Effort'. The Lyricst deseverd a Filmfare for this song, he got nominated but lost to 'Gulshan Bawra' for 'Mere Desh Ki Dharti' of 'Upkar', may due to 1965 war post-ultra patriotism, least Mere Desh ki Dharti was awesome too.
