his voice did not need any instrument. His voice itself was like a full
harmonic orchestra.
aptkp on May 17, 2008
Was so much nicer when the actors just sat or stood there and sang instead of jumping around like monkeys now a days :)
mahen20087 on August 12, 2008
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for loading rare piece of Hindi songs.

My wife's name is Nayana, so I always tease her saying 'mujhe to ek hi
Nayana samhalen mein itni kathinai hoti hai, to agar do nayanaon se zulm
hoga to kisiska kaisa hoga?' BTW who is the actress?
Dilip S. Coulagi on September 07, 2008
I agree...btw did you ever find the original of 'main kya janoon'?
Doesn't seem to be on youtube...
gsktimes on October 01, 2008
Actress is Sumitra Devi
I dont belong to this generation anywhere ( 60 yrs ago ) but my Grandpa and Dad love KL Saigal and Pankaj Mullick.I wish they had clearer sound track.
gsktimes on October 01, 2008
An impoverished though straight-laced teacher, Ramesh (Saigal), is raising his teenaged sister Bimala (Akhtar Jehan). falls for Krishna (Sumitra Devi) beautiful daughter of a village zamindar. Ramesh declines marriage proposal when her father dem&s that he settle in his village.Instead, of teacher becomes a stage singer & moves 2 Calcutta, which is under attack by Japanese. In between taking cover from an odd bombing raid, Ramesh falls in love W/ Rekha (Ch&rabati Devi),star of a stage company
MsSVasan on December 09, 2008
So let me get this straightened since I do not belong to that Golden
generation. Possibly my grandparents & parents. So K.L Saigal Saheb was an
actor as well & sang this song too. Was then Pankaj Mallick the music
director cum lyricist.

Listen to the mukhada of this and then compare "Aap ke Anurodh Pe Main Yeh
Geet Sunata Hoon" !!! They are so identical!! Classic example of Raag Yaman
Kalyan!
penta15786 on March 27, 2009
Pankaj Mallick was a singer and a music director. As far as I know he was
never a poet.
Tamal De on April 29, 2009
very true. Yaman has many colours this is also one of it.

All these golden old songs reminds me of my childhood days, when my father used to listen to radio ceylon every day. It is more than a year since my dad passed away. But whenever i listen to these songs, i feel his presence. Thanks a lot for the golden memories of that age & keeping my personal memories fresh forever
sudiptakiran on July 11, 2009
Pankaj Mallick was a singer and music director but not a lyricist!!

Saigal and I did with him too Now that he has passed away this brings back

As many posters have already said, I listened to this song when my dad
religiously tuned into Ceylon and provided the context on why KL is great.
Listening on Philips radio was magical and we have to be very attentive to
catch all lyrics since there was no tape recorder or repeats. Even If we
reduce music to it's most fundamental aspect 'sound' KL still hovers head
and shoulders above! Thanks dad.
Mr. Mittal gourishanker on May 20, 2010
Thanks for this great video.Saigal always remains in my heart. His music is
a class in itself and is above all other film music put together.
siddhesh kochikar on May 27, 2010
Could anyone point me to the right direction. I have noticed MM video
karachi has got an awesome collection. Are these songs still available with
them? Please give their contact address. Cheers Siddhesh

Saigal was great. On radio ceylone 7.50 in the morning, I used to leave every thing just to listen his song. They used to brodcost one saigal song every day. This revived the old memories of the hostel days.

Music has no boundries of age, religion or country. These r immortal compositions and we should hear tsuch songs with closed eyes bringing nostalgic memmories.
Sujoy Majumdar on October 07, 2010
I also feel MM Video in Karachi has got an awesome collection of old Indian
films. Is it possible to purchase those films from India ? I would be
extremely grateful for a proper guidance
tk yaheya on October 08, 2010
@ kiranvattarai! I was the young Recording Assistant in Radio Ceylon way
back in the early seventies. I well remember playing this song over the
airs repeatedly, at a listeners request programme.
