jaage hain deer tak
hamen kuch deer sone do
thodi se raat aur hai
subah to hone do
aadhe adhure khwaab jo
pure na ho sake
ek baar phir se neend mein
woh khwaab bone do..
kakamyworld08 on November 18, 2007
well the chorus is: We have woken up a little late. But do let us sleep some more. For let the morning come, our dreams have been unfinished, they have not been done yet. Let that dream finish when we sleep.

awsome... this is what i mean A.R RAHMAN!!!
PS G on December 07, 2007
This song reminded us again what AR Rehman can do. In his last few movies
he wasn't quite as impressive as he used to be.

I have lain awake very late
Let me sleep some more

A little of this night still remains
Wait till morning comes

These unfinished dreams of mine
Which are yet unfulfilled
Once more in my sleep
Let me weave them some more..

Could easily be the national anthem of any nation. Gulzar and Rehman rock

Sadness despair gloom agony failure The ache a heart feels after a long
night lack of sleep, lack of any hope Through the spires of gloom, the
heart will find a path Through the trifles of life, life will find its
reason The reversals of night and day shall disappear What we will see is
unbridled dazzle
celticvibes76 on February 14, 2008
Wow. That is so very true. Thats what the music is saying. Who is the poet?

celticvibes76 on February 15, 2008
Hi ckeds. I know the song is by Gulzar. I was interested in Sadness despair
gloom agony failure The ache a heart feels after a long night lack of
sleep, lack of any hope Through the spires of gloom, the heart will find a
path Through the trifles of life, life will find its reason The reversals
of night and day shall disappear What we will see is unbridled dazzle

GARRYKINGLIVE on May 03, 2008
that is so not what the song means Its something like: We have stayed up
long enough, let us rest a bit more, the night has yet to pass away, at
least let it dawn before. Our dreams were never fulfilled, let us weave our
unfinished dreams, in our sleeps, once again. I like to think it as a
tribute to the struggles of the common man of India.

very nice song!!!

After reading your comments,it seems that you are not satisfied with the message of the song. You know the reason they added this song in the movie is awesome.Life is beautiful. He is not complaining but he is welcoming more beautiful and wonderful ideas in his dreams so that whatever is incomplete, he completes that too.He is not showing that he is tired but he is getting ready to move with more power and with new and more dreams. This is what all we need to move further.DREAMS & FEELINGS.enjoy.

Ckeds, where did you get these lyrics? They aren't the ones to this song.
Sampatel714has posted the right translation.
ckeds on May 17, 2009
i found it somewhere on the net. i dont think they are literal translation
line by line but a gist of the song!
amtaf12 on May 21, 2009
Whoever wrote that was really something... the gist of the song is not
this. But even with what is lost in translation, this isn't the message.
sumayyasahin on May 26, 2009
finally someone with common sense!
sumayyasahin on May 27, 2009
it's not about the Oscar, it's about the song he got it for... he's done so
much better; perfect examples are the songs featured in Guru... but that's
just my honest opinion, nothing to start a fight over. I respect your
opinion, whatever it is, too.
myriad82 on May 28, 2009
its all because of brit director !!

Honestly, I don't like jai ho song. He should have got oscar for other
works. Slumdog is also not worth a movie, it was given by a western people
to the western way seeing the eastern life. i don't care for such awards.

the beginning is absolutely similar to lagja gale by lata from woh kaun thi
(1964). so even the great ARR is subject to "inspiration."
