I was looking for this song once I heard this song in Ishqiya, I found it to be more meledious than this one.

The singer is Rekha Bharadwaj in the movie Ishqiya.

totally agree. I did the same..searched on google using the few words she
sang, and was utterly disappointed when I heard the original version of
Lata. I think Rekha Bharadwaj needs to record her own version of it.

Sure. I agree. The same thoughts have crossed my mind. In fact I am looking if any one of the female singers in the TV shows like sare gama or something have sang this song.

Somehow the original does not sit well with me.I am not satisfied. The basic tune is excellent. This song needs to be recorded again with Rekha Bharadwaj..

There is another stanza in this song probably only on records and

In the original song, I know, that its Lata. But, in the movie ISHQIYA,

@ Ajaz Latif, I completely agree with you that Rekha Bharadwaj surpassed
Lata in that very short excerpt from Ishqiya, she is technically brilliant
and superb. So in having said that I don't mean any disrespect to Lata and
neither do I mean to dishearten her die-hard fans.
