Comments on song "Ab Ke Baras Bhejo Bhaiya Ko Baabul"
dmisra75 on July 01, 2008
translation by ektajiv- so good i am simply repeating it - Yet again from
the mango tree the swing shall hang in the rains to our home shall come a
breezy glee wet the porch and panes my heart bleeds and I shed tears with
memories of the childhood years.

As someone born in late 70s, and brought up on "modern mediocrity" of
"Bollywood", I have to agree with you. There are very few movies now that
are worth watching, specially for an expat like me. Guru and Swades come to
mind. Song of the old were truly written by poets, sung by true artist
singers, and music was worth listening. Not this modern 200 beats up minute
mania. Thank you for sharing this video and for the translation.

I would still recommend you see these excellent movies- taare zameen par,
paheli, saathiya, and black which is a bit slow. also good are- chak de
india, bhool bhulaiya, khosla ka ghosla, zubeida, munna bhai, lage raho
munna bhai. for pure entertainment- dhoom and dhoom 2. but yes- MEDIOCRITY
RULES FOR THE REMAINING 95%. however- i cannot praise taare zameen par
enough.

I bet you really feel the pain of indian woman specially when she is separated from her parents. It is so touch for a girl to get over the past and get into future which are two different families. Why only a female should suffer. I know sceen is chaning now-a-days. But not completely in rural india. Those who are tough can survive, but emotional females are really at this painful act in real life. God give strenth to all women on earth who are going thru such painful life.
kooner1958 on January 09, 2009
How dare you talk of compromise! Most of us leave everything behind and end up marrying uncaring selfish so called 'man'. Superior my foot.
spinnersdomain on January 10, 2009
typical response from a typical janani.
kooner1958 on January 13, 2009
A janani gave birth to you and another unfortunate one married you. As you said "if the wife ever read this though she'd slit my throat". I hope she does! Stellar my arse!
kooner1958 on January 14, 2009
You are beneath contempt. I'm glad you are happy with your wife. Good luck to her!

Refrain and first verse: Just for this year, father, send brother; send for
me in the rainy season. When my childhood friends return, send a message
for me. Once again swings will be hung from the mango tree, and the rains
will fall. Once again, father, the cold, lively rains will return to your
courtyard. My eyes brim over and my heart is wounded when I remember my
childhood days.
psurajit on January 22, 2009
Second verse: Spiteful youth seized my toys, and stole my dolls. Father, I
was your pride and joy; why did you send me away? Eons have passed, with no
letters, no messages, and nobody visiting from my childhood home. Just this
one year, father, send brother to get me.

Looking at this souful inmate singing, it tells the story of a girl who was playful and expected love.. but in a male dominated society she is denied love and the right to happi
sumanlata9 on February 04, 2009
this is not the true meaning of the song my dear. she is missing her childhood terribly as she has been sent to jail for supporting a freedom fighter and her dad dies n so n so.

After your views 1 month ago and your own description now, not even God almighty can help you improve yourself. From now on, keep your demeaning views about women to yourself , you imbecile.
spinnersdomain on February 14, 2009
isn's saying God Almighty not being able to do something kind of fall under
the umbrella of Blasphemy and would'nt that mean you are bound to burn in
hell for all eternity? Be mindful of what you say Grandma. You've got one
foot in the grave already. That's right, I know who you are.

Most heart-tugging song! Been looking for its video since several months
ago when I regularly started listening to it from a CD while driving long
distance and back every week. Funny, as a school boy enamoured of Shankar
Jaikishen's romantic music, I did not have any interest in such songs as
this. Thanks a bunch, Bellztoll.
nandu1f on May 08, 2009
I wanted to share this video with my son daughter (who have grown up
outside of India) to enjoy the intense sentiments played out by Asha within
Bimal Roy's incomparable movie-making. But the shameful comments by by some
immature and unthinking listeners precludes that option for me. I am sure
most other listeners feel the same way. I don't know how to delete those
tasteless comments. Bellztoll ji, can you please upload this video again to
remove their dirty smudges?

There cannot be any doubt that SD Burman along with S-J was the best music composer we ever got. Moreover SD gave a complete new style to playback singing. How can any body imagine composing tunes of folk songs of the East Bengal's going to match on Dev Anand or Guru Datt's lip. Most of that golden era singers sung their best song in SD's tune. Its true from Rafi Saab (Hum bekhudi main) to Kishore Da (mere sapno ki rani), Lata (kato se khich ke..) to Talat Saab (Jalte hay jiske lia).
